If you need something more efficient (usually prev/next based on WHERE indexed-column > prev-value LIMIT x and similar approaches writing your own implementation is easy.
The following configuration values exist for Flask-SQLAlchemy. Flask-SQLAlchemy loads these values from your main Flask config which can be populated in various ways. Note that some of those cannot be modified after the engine was created so make sure to configure as early as possible and to not modify them at runtime.

But you have to go looking for it, there's no mention of it in the documentation prose (except for the method itself in the API docs). Not sure if stock SQLAlchemy includes pagination out-of-the-box (I don't think it does).
